Interman : graphically display IP connectivity 13th April 1993
--------

Interman focusses on IP connectivity within a single segment. As with
Etherman, this tool allows a real-time representation of network communications
to be displayed. Interman employs the same methods of network data
capture as Etherman, except only IP traffic is considered. Since IP is a
network-level protocol, Interman will display multiple networks - both local
and remote. Protocol summaries, usage statistics and postscript snapshots
are also available.

Installation and use:

At present only binaries are available and you must be root to execute.
The binaries assume you have the hershey font libraries installed on your
system under /usr/local/lib/hershey. As most of you will not have these fonts
simply get hold of ~ftp/pub/netman/hershey-[sun4c|dec-mips].tar.Z from
ftp.cs.curtin.edu.au. Untar the archive from /usr/local/lib.

We *STRONGLY* suggest that you use an X11R5 server and not the native
OpenWindows or DECwindows. Although Interman will work under Open/DECwindows,
the display updates are extremely slow (especially for OpenWin). Interman
makes optional use of other system utilities such as traceroute, ping, xterm,
and finger, so if you require these facilities they must be installed.
