Choose an already existing jatefile or create a new one.

Create a jatefile.

To create a new jatefile just type in the path and press proceed.

Jatefile is the file where Jate keep your forms. The file has to be write accessible to the world (your http server). Once created all forms turn off write bits.

Save button is to save the name of jatefile to preferences (as a cookie)
Delete is to delete the name of jatefile from preferences
Proceed is to proceed with current jatefile. having proceeded with a jatefile all you create will be saved to the current jatefile.

Proceed is to proceed with current host.
If the host hasn't databases supported by Jate the program will not proceed Current version of Jate supports only mSQL.

Input Output Search Group of Actions Report

Input is a form by which one adds or modifies a record.

Note that to be able to modify a record the form has already to contain information about the record.
When creating an ADD form one can save it as an HTML file and use it.
When creating an UPDATE form one has to save it to a jatefile. Then it will be used by other actions. e.g. REPORT and GROUP.

Output is a format by which data will be displayed

When creating an OUTPUT format one has to save it to a jatefile.
Then it will be used by other actions. e.g. REPORT and GROUP.

Search is a form by which one gives parameters of data he want to

find in the database.
When creating a SEARCH form one has to save it to a jatefile.
Then it will be used by other actions. e.g. REPORT and GROUP.

Group is a Menu of actions. When creating a GROUP one has to save it

to a jatefile. Then it will be used by other actions. e.g. REPORT and another GROUP.

Report Is the final form that uses all the others It starts from a SEARCH

form, displays results in an OUTPUT format When displaying puts Action buttons near each displayed record.
Action buttons can lead to INPUT OUTPUT GROUP and REPORT. To use created REPORT save the frame with SEARCH form (displayed by report) as an HTML file.

flat file that can be evaluated using already created forms.

Details Input format.

Input name is the name by which the format is saved in the jatefile and by which other Actions find it in the file.
Submit name is the word to write on the submit button of the form.
HTML file to insert in. The HTML file where the form has to be inserted the form will be inserted where  is written.
Confirm file. The HTML file where the confirm message has to be inserted the message will be inserted where  is written.
Get password. The HTML file where the get password form has to be inserted the form will be inserted where  is written.
Field for password. Jate has an insecure mechanism for limited access Can be used when each record has a password. User types in the value of the field chosen as a password and gets possibility to edit the record.
Layout. Layout of the form. Which. Order of fields to be displayed.
Type.

Normal Get the value of field by normal TEXT type INPUT
Textarea Get the value of field by a TEXTAREA
Read Only Allow the user only to see the value of the field
Hidden Set the value of field by HIDDEN type INPUT

Size Set the size of normal TEXT type INPUT
Name name of the field
Title Description of field to display to user

Simple def. value: the value to write as a VALUE of INPUT.
Field name : Name of the field value of which will be passed by the reports OUTPUT format and written as a VALUE of INPUT. This case automatically turns the form to an ADD form.
Date : Only int fields. Value entered as dd/mm/yy will be converted to its longint value.

Values Values entered in the textarea separated by LF e.g. newline will be displayed as radiobuttons or single select. In the case of int field the value will be the order number of selected value.
Layout Layout of the input form in case of table style Cs is COLSPAN Rs ROWSPAN.

To search for FORM use *FORM* (or %FORM%)
